§ 130A‑222. Departmentto establish program.
(a) The Departmentshall establish and administer a program for the detection and prevention ofarthritis and the care and treatment of persons with arthritis. The purpose ofthe program shall be:
(1) To improveprofessional education for physicians and allied health professionals includingnurses, physical and occupational therapists and social workers;
(2) To conduct programsof public education and information;
(3) To provide detectionand treatment programs and services for the at‑risk population of thisState;
(4) To utilize theservices available at the State medical schools, existing arthritisrehabilitation centers and existing local arthritis clinics and agencies;
(5) To develop an arthritisoutreach clinical system;
(6) To develop and trainpersonnel at clinical facilities for diagnostic work‑up, laboratoryanalysis and consultations with primary physicians regarding patientmanagement; and
(7) To develop theepidemiologic studies to determine frequency and distribution of the disease.
