§ 120‑57. LegislativeIntern Program Council to promulgate a plan for the use of legislative interns.
(a) For purposes ofthis section the term "institutions of higher education" means fouryear colleges and universities and community colleges that offer collegetransfer programs.
(b) The LegislativeIntern Program Council is hereby empowered and is directed to promulgate foreach session of the General Assembly a plan providing for the selection,tenure, duties and compensation of legislative interns. Interns shall beselected from institutions of higher education within North Carolina, includingbut not limited to all units of the university system and community collegesystem. The selection shall be based upon guidelines set forth by theLegislative Intern Program Council; these guidelines shall permit the properconsideration of each applicant.
