§ 120‑240. Creation andmembership of Joint Legislative Oversight Committee on Mental Health,Developmental Disabilities, and Substance Abuse Services.
(a) Establishment;Definition. There is established the Joint Legislative Oversight Committee onMental Health, Developmental Disabilities, and Substance Abuse Services.
(b) Membership. TheCommittee shall consist of 16 members, as follows:
(1) Eight members of theSenate appointed by the President Pro Tempore of the Senate, as follows:
a. At least two membersof the Senate Committee on Appropriations.
b. The chair of theSenate Appropriations Committee on Human Resources.
c. At least two membersof the minority party.
(2) Eight members of theHouse of Representatives appointed by the Speaker of the House ofRepresentatives, as follows:
a. At least two membersof the House of Representatives Committee on Appropriations.
b. The cochairs of theHouse of Representatives Appropriations Subcommittee on Health and HumanServices.
c. At least two membersof the minority party.
(c) Terms. Terms onthe Committee are for two years and begin on the convening of the GeneralAssembly in each odd‑numbered year, except the terms of the initialmembers, which begin on appointment and end on the day of the convening of the2001 General Assembly. Members may complete a term of service on the Committeeeven if they do not seek reelection or are not reelected to the GeneralAssembly, but resignation or removal from service in the General Assemblyconstitutes resignation or removal from service on the Committee.
A member continues to serveuntil the member's successor is appointed. A vacancy shall be filled within 30days by the officer who made the original appointment. (2000‑83,s. 2.)
