§120‑149.6. Legislative Committee on New Licensing Boards.
(a) The LegislativeCommittee on New Licensing Boards is created to consist of a Chairman and eightmembers, four Senators appointed by the President Pro Tempore of the Senate,four members of the House of Representatives appointed by the Speaker of theHouse and the Chairman to be appointed as provided herein.
(b) The President ProTempore of the Senate shall appoint a member of the Senate as Chairman upon theeffective date of this Article who shall serve a term beginning with theeffective date of this Article and expiring upon the organization of theGeneral Assembly in 1989. Thereafter, the Speaker of the House and thePresident Pro Tempore of the Senate shall alternate the appointment of theChairman to serve during each biennial session of the General Assembly. TheChairman may vote only in the event of a tie vote. The members of theCommittee shall likewise serve biennial terms. If the office of Chairman orany member shall become vacant, the vacancy shall be filled for the unexpiredterm by the authority making the initial appointment. Five members shallconstitute a quorum of the Committee.
(c) The Committee maymeet on days when the members of the General Assembly are entitled to subsistencepursuant to G.S. 120‑3.1. The Committee is authorized to use thefacilities of the State Legislative Building and Legislative Office Building. Clerical and professional staff shall be provided by the Legislative ServicesCommission. (1987, c. 180; 1991, c. 739, s. 16.)
