Airport Authorities.
§ 116‑271. Generalprovisions.
(a) As provided by G.S.116‑11(12c), the Board of Governors may create one airport authority tosupport the missions of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill or theUniversity of North Carolina Health Care System. An authority so created shallbe a political subdivision of the State. The territorial jurisdiction of theauthority shall be the county in which the airport may be established undersubsection (c) of this section.
(b) To create anairport authority under this Article, the Board of Governors by resolutionshall:
(1) Name the authority.
(2) Describe the inputfrom affected local jurisdictions.
(3) Consider eligibilityfor State and federal funding.
(4) Find that theauthority is essential to support the missions of The University of NorthCarolina.
(c) An airportestablished under this Article may only be established in Orange County. Thesole purpose of the authority is to resite Horace Williams Airport and operatethe resited airport.
(d) No member of theGeneral Assembly may serve on an airport authority created under this Article. (2008‑204, s. 4.2.)
