§ 115C‑101. Dutiesand authority of superintendents of local school administrative units.
The superintendent of each local school administrative unit, as anofficial agent of the State Board of Education, shall administer the provisionsof this Part and the rules and regulations of the Board insofar as they applyto his unit. The superintendent of each local school administrative unit shallhave authority to require the cooperation of principals and teachers so thatthe children may receive the best possible service, and so that all the booksand moneys may be accounted for properly. If any principal or teacher fails tocomply with the provisions of this section, his superintendent shall withholdhis salary vouchers until the duties imposed by this section have beenperformed.
If any superintendent fails to comply with the provisions of thissection, the State Superintendent, as secretary to the State Board of Education, shall notify the State Board of Education and the State Treasurer.The State Board and the State Superintendent shall withhold thesuperintendent's salary vouchers, and the State Treasurer shall make no paymentuntil the State Superintendent notifies him that the provisions of this sectionhave been complied with.
