§ 106‑640. Authority of Commissioner to protect industry from diseases and disorders, etc.
The Commissioner shall protect the bee and honey industry from diseasesand disorders of the honeybee (Apis mellifera) and other insects in thesuperfamily (Apoidea) and shall provide services and enforce provisions of thisArticle and pursuant regulations. The Commissioner may adopt regulations forprohibiting or regulating the movement of bees and regulated articles into andfrom quarantine or cleanup areas and enforce procedures for control and cleanupof diseases or disorders in such areas.
The Commissioner is authorized to establish postentry quarantines andissue hold orders for inspection of bees or regulated articles imported intoNorth Carolina. (1977, c. 238, s.7.)
