Federal and State Cooperation as to Meat Inspection;Implementation of Inspection.
§ 106‑549.29. North Carolina Department ofAgriculture and Consumer Services responsible for cooperation.
(a)Â Â Â Â Â Â Â The North Carolina Department of Agriculture and ConsumerServices is hereby designated as the State agency which shall be responsiblefor cooperating with the Secretary of Agriculture of the United States underthe provisions of section 301 of the Federal Meat Inspection Act and suchagency is directed to cooperate with the Secretary of Agriculture of the UnitedStates in developing and administering the meat inspection program of thisState under this and the previous Article in such a manner as will effectuatethe purposes of this and the previous Article.
(b)Â Â Â Â Â Â Â In such cooperative efforts, the North Carolina Departmentof Agriculture and Consumer Services is authorized to accept from saidSecretary advisory assistance in planning and otherwise developing the Stateprogram, technical and laboratory assistance and training (including necessarycurricular and instructional materials and equipment), and financial and otheraid for administration of such a program.
(c)Â Â Â Â Â Â Â The North Carolina Department of Agriculture and ConsumerServices is further authorized to recommend to the said Secretary ofAgriculture such officials or employees of this State as the Commissioner shalldesignate, for appointment to the advisory committees provided for in Section301 of the Federal Meat Inspection Act; and the Commissioner or his authorizedrepresentative shall serve as the representative of the Governor forconsultation with said Secretary under paragraph (c) of Section 301 of saidact.
