§ 106‑401.1. Inspectionand quarantine of poultry.
The State Veterinarian or anauthorized representative may enter any property in the State or stop any motorvehicle to examine any poultry that the State Veterinarian has reason tobelieve is affected with or exposed to a contagious animal disease. The StateVeterinarian or an authorized representative may quarantine any poultryaffected with or exposed to a contagious disease or injected with or otherwiseexposed to any material capable of producing a contagious disease and givepublic notice of the quarantine by posting or placarding with a suitablequarantine sign the entrance to or any part of the premises on which thepoultry is held. The poultry shall be maintained by the poultry owner or theowner or operator of the premises in accordance with this Part at the expenseof the poultry owner or the owner or operator of the premises. The quarantineunder this section does not apply to those diseases that are endemic in theState and for which adequate preventive and control measures are not available.No poultry under quarantine shall be moved from the place of quarantine, unlesspermitted by the State Veterinarian or an authorized representative in writing.The quarantine shall remain in effect until cancelled by official writtennotice from the State Veterinarian or an authorized representative and shallnot be released or cancelled until the sick or dead poultry have been properlydisposed of and the premises have been properly cleaned and disinfected.
