30:9-65.    Executive officer; dutiesÂ
    30:9-65. The superintendent shall be the chief executive officer of the hospital and subject to the rules and regulations and to the powers of the board of managers:Â
   Shall have general supervision and control of the records, accounts and buildings of the hospital and its internal affairs, and maintain discipline and enforce all rules and regulations and make such further rules and regulations as he may deem necessary not inconsistent with law or the rules, regulations and directions of the board of managers;Â
   Shall with the consent of the board of managers appoint such resident officers and such employees as he may think proper and necessary for the efficient performance of the business of the hospital, and prescribe their duties, and for cause stated in writing after opportunity to be heard, discharge or suspend any officer or employee, subject to formal investigation by the board of managers;Â
   Shall cause proper accounts and records to be kept regularly from day to day in books and on records provided for that purpose and cause such accounts and records to be correctly made up for the annual report to the board of freeholders and presented to the board of managers;Â
   Shall receive into the hospital under the general direction of the board of managers, in the order of application any person suffering from a communicable disease who has a legal settlement in the county or who has been an actual resident and inhabitant of the county for a period of at least one year prior to his application for admission or who may be committed to the hospital by order of the Superior Court;Â
   Shall cause to be kept proper accounts and records of the admission of each patient, his name, age, sex, color, marital condition, residence, occupation, and place of last employment;Â
   Shall cause a careful examination to be made of the physical condition of all persons admitted and provide for the treatment of each patient according to his need; and shall cause a record to be kept of each patient when admitted and from time to time thereafter;Â
   Shall temporarily discharge any patient who shall willfully or habitually violate the rules, or who is found not to have a communicable disease, or who is found to have recovered, or who for any other reason is no longer a suitable patient for hospital treatment, and shall make full report thereof at the next meeting of the board of managers, who shall make such final disposition of the case as they may think proper;Â
   Shall collect and receive all moneys due to the hospital, keep an accurate account of the same, report the same at a monthly meeting of the board of managers and transmit the same to the county treasurer within ten days after such meeting;Â
   Shall before entering upon the discharge of his duties, give a bond in such sum as the board of managers may determine to secure the faithful performance of his duties.Â
