Section 193:9 Illiterates.
Every person between 16 and 18 years of age who cannot read and speak English understandingly shall, unless excused by the commissioner or designee, attend an evening or special day school, if one is maintained in the district in which such person either resides or is employed, until such person has completed the minimum course of studies prescribed by the state board.
