Section 125-G:1 Statement of Policy.
The legislature opposes the siting of a high-level radioactive waste facility in the state of New Hampshire and finds that the northeast is an unsafe and hydrogeologically and geologically inappropriate area in which to locate a site for the permanent disposal of high-level radioactive waste. The legislature further finds that it is in the best interests of the state to establish procedures to provide advocacy for the people of the state before the federal government and for a maximum of public participation in the assessment process in order to assure that the federal Department of Energy will consider the unique features of the state and the needs of the people of the state when assessing the state as a potentially suitable location for the long-term or temporary storage or permanent disposal of high-level radioactive waste.
