Practice ofaudiology, defined.Practice of audiology meansthe application of evidence-based practice in clinical decisionmaking forthe prevention, assessment, habilitation, rehabilitation, and maintenanceof persons with hearing, auditory function, and vestibular function impairmentsand related impairments, including (1) cerumen removal from the cartilaginousouter one-third portion of the external auditory canal when the presence ofcerumen may affect the accuracy of hearing evaluations or impressions of theear canal for amplification devices and (2) evaluation, selection, fitting,and dispensing of hearing instruments, external processorsof implantable hearing instruments, and assistivetechnology devices as part of a comprehensive audiological rehabilitationprogram.
