     85-7-1954. Assumption of operations by United States upon default. In addition to other legal remedies, the board of commissioners of the district shall have the power and authority to provide in any contract executed between the United States and the district hereunder that in case of default for more than 12 months in the payment of any installments due under such contract, the control, operation, and maintenance of the district may, in the discretion of the secretary of the interior, be assumed by the United States and the delivery of water withheld until payments are duly made in accordance with the contract requirements.
