70-6-504. How exempted from liability -- safe. If an innkeeper keeps a fireproof safe and gives notice to a guest, either personally or by placing a printed notice in a prominent place in the room occupied by the guest, that the innkeeper keeps a fireproof safe and will not be liable for any loss of or injury to money, jewelry, documents, or other articles of value and small size unless placed in the safe, the innkeeper is not liable, except so far as the innkeeper's own acts contribute to the loss of or injury to the articles not deposited with the innkeeper and not required by the guest for present use.
