Chief inspector, appointment, qualifications, powers, duties.
650.235. 1. The director shall appoint a person who has hadat the time of the appointment not less than ten years'experience in the construction, installation, inspection,operation, maintenance or repair of high pressure boilers andpressure vessels as a mechanical engineer, steam operatingengineer, boilermaker, or boiler inspector, and who shall havepassed the same kind of examination as that prescribed undersection 650.250, to be chief inspector. The chief inspector maybe removed for cause after due investigation by the board and itsrecommendation to the director.
2. The chief inspector, if authorized by the director, ishereby charged, directed and empowered:
(1) To take action necessary to the enforcement of the lawsof the state governing the use of boilers and pressure vessels towhich sections 650.200 to 650.290 apply and of the rules andregulations of the board;
(2) To keep a complete record of the type, dimensions,maximum allowable pressure, age, location and date of the lastrecorded inspection of all boilers and pressure vessels to whichsections 650.200 to 650.290 apply;
(3) To publish and make available to anyone requesting themcopies of the rules and regulations promulgated by the board;
(4) To issue, or to suspend, or revoke for cause, inspectioncertificates as provided for in section 650.265;
(5) To cause the prosecution of all violators of theprovisions of sections 650.200 to 650.290;
(6) To draw upon the state treasurer for funds necessary tomeet the expense authorized by sections 650.200 to 650.290, whichshall include the necessary traveling expenses of the chiefinspector and his deputies and the expense incident to themaintenance of his office.
