640.125. 1. The public water system shall report to the departmentof natural resources the results of all tests required by the statedrinking water regulations and shall report to each customer in accordancewith the federal Safe Drinking Water Act, as amended, and regulationspromulgated thereunder.
2. Any owner or operator of a public water system subject to theprovisions of section 192.320, RSMo, and sections 640.100 to 640.140 shallretain in its premises, or at a convenient location near its premises, fora period of time specified by the department of natural resources thefollowing records: records of operation; records of bacteriologicalanalyses; records of chemical and physical analyses made pursuant tosection 192.320, RSMo, and sections 640.100 to 640.140; records of actiontaken by the system to correct violations of state drinking water rules andregulations; copies of any written reports, summaries or communicationsrelating to sanitary surveys of the system conducted by the system itself,by a private consultant, or by any local, state or federal agency; andrecords concerning a variance or exemption granted to the system. If apublic water system fails to comply with the state drinking water rules andregulations, monitoring requirements, or has been granted a variance orexemption, or fails to comply with the schedule or conditions prescribedpursuant to a variance or exemption, the department of natural resourcesshall require the supplier of water to notify its users and the public ofthe extent and nature of the noncompliance. Notification shall be in formand manner prescribed or otherwise approved by the department of naturalresources.
3. When an investigation of any water supply, plant or methods usedis undertaken by the department of natural resources, the person in chargeof the water supply shall furnish on demand to the department suchinformation as the rules and regulations promulgated require to determinethe quality of the water being dispensed.
