Practice as professional land surveyor defined.
327.272. 1. Any person who practices in Missouri as a professionalland surveyor who uses the title of "surveyor" alone or in combination withany other word or words including, but not limited to "registered","professional" or "land" indicating or implying that the person is, orholds himself or herself out to be a professional land surveyor who by wordor words, letters, figures, degrees, titles or other descriptions indicatesor implies that the person is a professional land surveyor or is willing orable to practice professional land surveying or who renders or offers torender, or holds himself or herself out as willing or able to render, orperform any service or work, the adequate performance of which involves thespecial knowledge and application of the principles of mathematics, therelated physical and applied sciences, and the relevant requirements oflaw, all of which are acquired by education, training, experience andexamination, that affect real property rights on, under or above the landand which service or work involves:
(1) The location of land boundaries;
(2) Monumentation of land boundaries, land boundary corners andcorners of the United States Public Land Survey System;
(3) The subdivision of land into smaller tracts;
(4) Consultation, investigation, evaluation, planning, design andexecution of surveys;
(5) The preparation of any drawings showing the shape, location,dimensions or area of tracts of land;
(6) Monumentation of geodetic control and the determination of theirhorizontal and vertical positions;
(7) Establishment of state plane coordinates;
(8) Topographic surveys and the determination of the horizontal andvertical location of any physical features on, under or above the land;
(9) The preparation of plats, maps or other drawings showingelevations and the locations of improvements and the measurement andpreparation of drawings showing existing improvements after construction;
(10) Layout of proposed improvements;
(11) The determination of azimuths by astronomic observations.
2. None of the specific duties listed in subdivisions (4) to (11) ofsubsection 1 of this section are exclusive to professional land surveyorsunless they affect real property rights. For the purposes of this section,the term "real property rights" means a recordable interest in real estateas it affects the location of land boundary lines.
3. Nothing in this section shall be construed to preclude thepractice of architecture or professional engineering as provided insections 327.091 and 327.181.
4. Nothing in this section shall be construed to prohibit thesubdivision of land pursuant to section 137.185, RSMo.
