Seat safety belts standard equipment, when--penalty.
307.165. 1. No four-wheeled passenger motor vehicle otherthan motorbuses manufactured or assembled after June 30, 1964,and designated as a 1965 or later year model, shall be sold orregistered in this state unless it is equipped with at least twosets of seat safety belts for the front seat of the motorvehicle. As used in this section the term "set of seat safetybelts" means a combination of belts, buckle and brackets meetingSAE J-4 or higher standards. The state highway patrol shallmaintain a list of seat safety belts which meet SAE J-4 or higherstandards and shall furnish a copy of the list to the director ofrevenue and keep the director informed as to any changes oradditions to the list.
2. Violation of this section shall be a misdemeanor and bepunished as provided by law.
