Certain buses and trucks to stop at railroad crossing,when--exception, requirements.

304.030. Every motor vehicle transporting passengers, forhire, every school bus, and every motor vehicle transporting highexplosives, or poisonous or compressed inflammable gases, andevery motor vehicle used for the transportation of inflammable orcorrosive liquids in bulk, whether loaded or empty, shall, uponapproaching any railroad grade crossing, other than a crossingthat is specifically exempted from the stopping requirement byorder of the division of motor carrier and railroad safety of thedepartment of economic development, be brought to a full stop within fiftyfeet, but not less than fifteen feet, from the nearest rail ofsuch railroad grade crossing, and shall not proceed until duecaution has been taken to ascertain that the course is clear,except that such full stop shall not be required at a streetcarcrossing within a business or residence district, nor at arailroad grade crossing protected by a watchman or trafficofficer on duty or by a traffic control signal (not railroadflashing signal) giving positive indication to approachingvehicles to proceed, nor when the division of motor carrier and railroadsafety has ordered the placement of an exempt sign at the crossing.
