World War II veteran, special license plates.
301.465. Any person who served in World War II and was honorablydischarged from such service may apply for special motor vehicle licenseplates, either solely or jointly, for issuance either for any passengermotor vehicle subject to the registration fees provided in section 301.055,or for a nonlocal property-carrying commercial motor vehicle licensed for agross weight of nine thousand one pounds to twelve thousand pounds asprovided in section 301.057, whether such vehicle is owned solely orjointly. Any such person shall make application for the special licenseplates on a form provided by the director of revenue and furnish such proofof service in World War II and status as an honorably discharged veteran asthe director may require. Upon presentation of the proof of eligibilityand annual payment of the fee required for personalized license platesprescribed by section 301.144, and other fees and documents which may berequired by law, the director shall then issue license plates bearingletters or numbers or a combination thereof as determined by the advisorycommittee established in section 301.129, with the words "WORLD WAR IIVETERAN" in place of the words "SHOW-ME-STATE". Such plates shall alsobear an image of the World War II service medal. The plates shall beclearly visible at night and shall be aesthetically attractive, asprescribed by section 301.130. There shall be no limit on the number oflicense plates any person qualified under this section may obtain so longas each set of license plates issued under this section is issued forvehicles owned solely or jointly by such person. License plates issuedpursuant to this section shall not be transferable to any other personexcept that any registered co-owner of the motor vehicle may operate themotor vehicle for the duration of the year licensed in the event of thedeath of the qualified person.
