Department of natural resources to administer the National HistoricPreservation Act--the national historic preservation fund created,how spent, no reversion to general revenue.
253.022. 1. The department of natural resources isauthorized to administer the National Historic Preservation Actof 1966, Public Law 89-665.
2. There is hereby created in the state treasury for use bythe department of natural resources a fund to be known as "TheNational Historic Preservation Fund". All federal moneysreceived by the state of Missouri from the National HistoricPreservation Act of 1966, Public Law 89-665, shall be depositedin the fund.
3. Moneys deposited in the fund shall, upon appropriation bythe general assembly to the department of natural resources, bereceived and expended by the department of natural resources forthe purpose of assuring preservation and protection of siteslisted on the National Register of Historic Places, with privatecitizens, societies, associations, corporations, municipalitiesand state and federal agencies.
4. Any unexpended balance in the national historicpreservation fund at the end of any appropriation period shallnot be transferred to the general revenue fund of the statetreasury and, accordingly, shall be exempt from the provisions ofsection 33.080, RSMo, relating to transfer of funds to thegeneral revenue funds of the state by the state treasurer.
