Marking national historic trails with approved signs--donations.
226.800. 1. The department of transportation shall markthe primary routes of all national historic trailsincluding, but not limited to, the Pony Express Trail, Trail ofTears, Lewis and Clark Trail, Mormon Trail, Santa Fe Trail,Oregon Trail, and California Trail in Missouri, as described inthe respective National Park Service comprehensive management anduse plans, when published and distributed for each of the trails,by placing official National Park Service approved signs inlocations where the trails travel on public highways and crosspublic highways. In addition, the department of transportationshall at such time as it shall mark the Santa Fe Trailplace suitable signs at appropriate locations recognizingthe contributions of Franklin and Arrow Rock, Missouri, to theorigins of the Santa Fe Trail.
2. The state highways and transportation commission mayaccept and administer gifts and donations to aid in obtainingsuitable signs bearing the proper approved inscription.
