Housing accommodations, defined--discrimination against persons withvisual, hearing or physical disabilities, prohibited--dogs, guide,hearing or service to have full access--liability for actual damages.
209.190. 1. Blind or visually handicapped persons, deaf orpartially deaf persons, or physically disabled persons shall beentitled to full and equal access, as other members of thegeneral public, to all housing accommodations offered for rent,lease, or compensation in this state, subject to the conditionsand limitations established by law and applicable alike to allpersons.
2. "Housing accommodations", as used in this section meansany real property, or portion thereof, which is used or occupiedor is intended, arranged, or designed to be used or occupied, asthe home, residence or sleeping place of one or more humanbeings, but shall not include any accommodations, included withinsubsection 1 of this section, or any single family residence theoccupants of which rent, lease, or furnish for compensation notmore than one room therein.
3. Nothing in this section shall require any person renting,leasing, or providing for compensation real property to modifyhis property in any way or provide a higher degree of care for ablind or visually handicapped person, deaf or partially deafperson, or physically disabled person than for a person who isnot blind or visually handicapped, deaf or partially deaf, orphysically disabled.
4. Every totally or partially blind person who has orobtains a guide dog, every deaf or partially deaf person who hasor obtains a hearing dog, and every physically disabled personwho has or obtains a service dog shall be entitled to full andequal access to all housing accommodations provided for in thissection, and he shall not be required to pay extra compensationfor such dog but shall be liable for any damage done to thepremises by such a dog.
