Women's council established--appointment--qualifications--terms,vacancies--chairman appointed.
186.007. There is created in the department of economicdevelopment a "Missouri Women's Council" which shall consist offifteen members. Eleven of the members shall be appointed by thegovernor, of which no more than six of the eleven members may beof the same political party as the governor appointing suchmembers, with the advice and consent of the senate, and shall berepresentative of a cross section of the citizenry. Four membersshall be appointed for one year, four for two years, and threefor three years. Their successors shall serve terms of threeyears. The remaining four vacancies on the council shall befilled by the general assembly. Two representatives and twosenators shall be appointed by their respective bodies in thesame manner as members of standing committees are appointed. Thegovernor shall designate one of the members as chairman. In theevent of a vacancy in a term of office through death, resignationor otherwise, the governor shall appoint a person to serve theunexpired portion of the term of a member appointed by thegovernor. The unexpired council terms of any senator orrepresentative unable or unwilling to serve shall be filled bytheir respective bodies in the same manner as vacancies onstanding committees are filled.
