174.335. 1. Beginning with the 2004-2005 school year and for eachschool year thereafter, every public institution of higher education inthis state shall require all students who reside in on-campus housing tosign a written waiver stating that the institution of higher education hasprovided the student, or if the student is a minor, the student's parentsor guardian, with detailed written information on the risks associated withmeningococcal disease and the availability and effectiveness of themeningococcal vaccine.
2. Any student who elects to receive the meningococcal vaccine shallnot be required to sign a waiver referenced in subsection 1 of this sectionand shall present a record of said vaccination to the institution of highereducation.
3. Each public university or college in this state shall maintainrecords on the meningococcal vaccination status of every student residingin on-campus housing at the university or college, including any writtenwaivers executed pursuant to subsection 1 of this section.
4. Nothing in this section shall be construed as requiring anyinstitution of higher education to provide or pay for vaccinations againstmeningococcal disease.
