Advisory committee established--members, appointment, qualifications,terms--program funding.
173.265. 1. There is hereby created an "International EconomicDevelopment Exchange Program Advisory Committee", which shall consist offive members, to be appointed by the director of the department of economicdevelopment. The committee shall include two persons associated withinstitutions of higher education in this state and one resident businessperson who deals with international business. Of the five members, allshall be residents of the state, at least one member shall be a resident ofone of the two largest metropolitan areas of this state, and at least onemember shall not be a resident of one of the two largest metropolitan areasof this state. The members shall serve three-year terms. The committeeshall meet only in Jefferson City. The committee shall review theadministration of the international economic development exchange programby the department of economic development. The director of the departmentof economic development shall make an annual report of the program'sactivities to the governor, the speaker of the house of representatives andthe president pro tem of the senate. Members of the committee shall servewithout compensation but may be reimbursed for ordinary and necessaryexpenses incurred in the performance of their official duties.
2. The program may receive grants, loans and other funding from thefederal government and from private sources. In addition, the generalassembly may appropriate up to one hundred thousand dollars in each fiscalyear for the program; however, such appropriation shall not exceed anamount equal to the amounts contributed to the program from nongovernmentalsources.
