Graduate fellowship program established, administration, qualifyingdegrees--amount--eligibility--restrictions.
173.199. 1. There is hereby established the "GraduateFellowship Program" which shall be administered by thecoordinating board for higher education. The program shall, uponappropriation, provide fellowships, subject to the eligibilitycriteria enumerated in this section, for persons who pursue agraduate degree in the fields of mathematics, chemistry, physics,geology, astronomy, life sciences, foreign languages,engineering, and agricultural sciences.
2. The amount of any fellowship granted under the graduatefellowship program for the pursuit of a master's degree in any ofthe disciplines enumerated in subsection 1 of this section shallbe eight thousand dollars.
3. The coordinating board shall award scholarships in anamount of eight thousand dollars for the pursuit of a doctoratedegree in any of the disciplines enumerated in subsection 1 ofthis section.
4. In order to be eligible to receive a scholarship orfellowship pursuant to this section, a person shall be a UnitedStates citizen and a Missouri resident who scores in the toptwenty-fifth percentile of the GRE (Graduate Record Examination)test.
5. Any scholarship or fellowship awarded pursuant tosections 173.197 to 173.199 shall be expended only at a public orprivate institution of higher education in the state of Missouri.
