Teacher records, how maintained--evaluations, how performedand maintained.

168.128. The board of education of each school districtshall maintain records showing periods of service, dates ofappointment, and other necessary information for the enforcementof sections 168.102 to 168.130. In addition, the board ofeducation of each school district shall cause a comprehensive,performance-based evaluation for each teacher employed by thedistrict. Such evaluations shall be ongoing and of sufficientspecificity and frequency to provide for demonstrated standardsof competency and academic ability. All evaluations shall bemaintained in the teacher's personnel file at the office of theboard of education. A copy of each evaluation shall be providedto the teacher and appropriate administrator. The statedepartment of elementary and secondary education shall providesuggested procedures for such an evaluation.
