Retiree to become special advisor, when, compensation.
87.237. 1. Any person who served as a firefighter and who is retiredand receiving a retirement allowance of less than one hundred percent ofthe federal poverty level for a single person as set and updated by theUnited States Department of Health and Human Services or its successoragency may act as a special advisor to the retirement system.
2. For the additional service as a special advisor, each retiredperson shall receive, in addition to the retirement allowance providedpursuant to this chapter, an additional amount, which amount, together withthe retirement allowance he or she is receiving pursuant to otherprovisions of this chapter, shall equal, but not exceed, one hundredpercent of the federal poverty level for a single person as set and updatedby the United States Department of Health and Human Services or itssuccessor agency. Any retirement allowance paid to a retiree pursuant tothis subsection shall be withdrawn from the firefighters' retirement andrelief system fund and no moneys shall be withdrawn from the generalrevenue fund of any city not within a county.
