First class cities may provide pension fund for police department.
86.513. Municipal authorities, by ordinance, in all citiesof the first class in this state, having an organized policedepartment, or having an organized fire department, may providefor a pension fund for the pensioning of retired, crippled ordisabled members of such police department or such firedepartment, and the dependent widow and minor children ofdeceased members, and such cities may appropriate or set apartfrom special or general municipal funds such percent or amount asmay be fixed by the ordinance therefor, subject to existingconstitutional or statutory limitations, said fund to be managedby a board of trustees, and the treasurer of said city shall bethe treasurer of said funds.
