Election and terms of officers (cities of 1,000 and less than 3,000).
81.050. At the next municipal election in all cities andtowns under special charters having one thousand inhabitants andless than three thousand inhabitants, and every two yearsthereafter, there shall be elected the officers as specified insaid charters to be elected, each of whom shall hold his officeuntil his successor is elected and qualified; except that anysuch city may provide by ordinance that two councilmen shall beelected each year for a term of two years. At the first electionheld after the passage of any such ordinance the two councilmenreceiving the highest number of votes shall hold office for twoyears each and the two receiving the next highest number of votesshall hold office for one year each; and thereafter twocouncilmen shall be elected each year for terms of two yearseach.
