Board of trustees--corporate powers vested in--terms of office.
80.040. The corporate powers and duties of every village soincorporated shall be vested in a board of trustees, to consistof five members, unless such town shall contain more thantwenty-five hundred inhabitants, in which case such board mayconsist of nine members, the number to be determined by a vote ofthe voters of such village. The first board of trustees shall beappointed by the county commission at the time of declaring suchtown incorporated. If the board consists of five members thecounty commission shall designate two members who shall serve forterms of two years and three members who shall serve for terms ofone year. If the board consists of nine members the countycommission shall designate four members who shall serve for termsof two years and five members who shall serve for terms of oneyear. Thereafter all members shall serve for terms of two yearsand until their successors are elected and qualified.
