Preserve all accounts and vouchers--destroy, when.
33.150. The original of all accounts, vouchers and documentsapproved or to be approved by the commissioner of administrationshall be preserved in his office; and copies thereof shall begiven without charge to any person, county, city, town, townshipand school or special road district interested therein, that mayrequire the same for the purpose of being used as evidence in thetrial of the cause, and like copies shall be furnished to anycorporation or association requiring the same, under tender ofthe fees allowed by law; provided, that, during each biennialsession of the general assembly, the commissioner ofadministration may, in the presence of a joint committee of thehouse of representatives and senate, destroy by burning or by anyother method satisfactory to said joint committee all paidaccounts, vouchers and duplicate receipts of the state treasurerand other documents which may have been on file in the office ofthe commissioner of administration or his predecessor ascustodian of such documents for a period of five years or longer,except such documents as may at the time be the subject oflitigation or dispute. Said joint committee shall consist offour members of the house of representatives, to be appointed bythe speaker of the house of representatives, and two members ofthe senate, to be appointed by the president pro tem of thesenate.
