§ 37-9-153. Design of plan of group health, hospitalization, and major medical insurance.

The State Fiscal Management Board is hereby authorized and empowered to design a plan of group insurance covering the health, hospitalization and major medical costs of all full-time certificated and full-time noncertificated personnel of the school districts in the State of Mississippi, and shall make a report thereon to the Legislature on January 15, 1989. The amount of the coverages shall be in such reasonable amounts as may be determined by the board to be adequate, after due consideration of current health costs in Mississippi. The board may employ or contract for such consulting or actuarial services as may be necessary to formulate the school district certificated personnel group insurance plan, and to assist the board in the preparation of specifications and in the process of advertising for the bids for the plan, as provided for in Section 37-9-155. The board is authorized to promulgate rules and regulations necessary to implement the provisions of this section.
