380.1643 Final judgment against school district; certification.
Sec. 1643.
(1) If a final judgment is obtained against a school district or an intermediate school district and it is not removed to another court, the treasurer of the district or intermediate school district shall certify to the assessing officer of the township or municipality in which the district or intermediate school district is located and to the secretary of the district or intermediate school district the date and amount of the judgment, with the name of the person in whose favor the judgment was rendered. If the judgment is removed to another court the treasurer shall certify the judgment immediately after the final determination thereof against the school district or intermediate school district.
(2) If the treasurer fails to certify the judgment as required in subsection (1), the party obtaining the judgment or the party's executor, administrator, or assignee may file with the assessing officer of the proper city or township the certificate of the clerk of the court rendering the judgment, showing the facts which should have been certified by the treasurer.
(3) If the school district or intermediate school district against which a judgment is rendered is situated in 2 or more townships or municipalities, the certificate required in subsection (2) shall be delivered to the assessing officer of each township or municipality in which the district is situated.
