257.248c Sale, transfer, or release of distressed late model vehicle; applicability of subsections (1) and (3).

Sec. 248c.

(1) A vehicle salvage pool or broker shall not sell, transfer, or release a distressed, late model vehicle to anyone other than 1 or more of the following:

(a) The vehicle's former owner.

(b) A used or secondhand vehicle parts dealer.

(c) A vehicle scrap metal processor.

(d) A foreign salvage vehicle dealer licensed under this act.

(e) A registered motor vehicle repair facility engaging in body work.

(2) Subsection (1) applies until July 1, 1994.

(3) A vehicle salvage pool, auction, or broker shall not sell, transfer, or release a distressed, late model vehicle to anyone other than 1 or more of the following:

(a) The vehicle's former owner.

(b) A licensed salvage agent of an automotive recycler.

(c) A licensed salvage agent of a foreign salvage vehicle dealer.

(4) Subsection (3) applies beginning July 1, 1994.
