Section 16 Notice of claim; effect of recording

Section 16. After the expiration of a period of ten years from the recording of any conveyance no spouse of any party making the conveyance shall make any claim to dower in the land conveyed unless within such period the spouse has recorded in the registry of deeds for the county or district where the land lies a notice identifying the conveyance and the place in the public records of its recording and stating that dower may be claimed in the land thereby conveyed. A reference to such notice shall be noted on the margin of the record of the conveyance.
