96.355 Legislative body of city of second, third, fourth, fifth or sixth class may provide city with waterworks system -- Police protection for waterworks system located outside city limits.

system located outside city limits. (1) The legislative body of any city of the second, third, fourth, fifth or sixth class may by ordinance:
(a) Provide the city with water; establish, regulate and control public cisterns, hydrants and reservoirs, together with extensions and appurtenances thereto,
within or without the limits of the city, for fire protection and the use and
convenience of its inhabitants; (b) Provide for the enforcement of said regulations for the health, welfare and well-being of its inhabitants. (2) Whenever cisterns, hydrants, reservoirs or any other portion of a waterworks system owned by any city set forth in subsection (1) of this section is located in whole or in
part outside the city limits of any such city, the city may provide police protection as
is necessary to prevent damage to or destruction of such property and to safeguard
the water supply of the city from possible contamination. Effective: February 15, 1956
