72-8313. Used school buses; purchaser's duty tomodify; exceptions.(a) Except as provided in subsections (b) and (c), any individual, firm,partnership, association or corporation whopurchases a motor vehicle, which was operated by the seller thereof as aschool bus, as defined in K.S.A. 8-1461, and any amendmentsthereto, is hereby required to repaint such vehicle a color other thanyellow and disassemble and remove the "stoparm" therefrom and disconnect all flashing or rotating warning lights onsuch vehicle before it is operated on the public highways of this statefor any purpose other than those set forth in the definitions of aschool bus referred to in K.S.A. 8-1461, and amendments thereto.
(b) The provisions of subsection (a), shall not apply to a bus being usedas a church bus or day care program bus, as defined in K.S.A. 8-1730a, andamendments thereto.
(c) Any not-for-profit organization, purchasing a used school bus undersubsection (a), shall not be required to repaint such bus.
