72-6812. Amount of state scholarship equal to financial need;limitation.(a) The amount of a state scholarship awarded to a state scholar for the fall andspring semesters, or the equivalent thereof, shall be the amount of thestate scholar's financial need for the period, except that statescholarships awarded to a state scholar in any year shall not exceed:
(1) Five hundred dollars in any year if the state scholar initially isor was awarded a state scholarship for any program period, term or semestercommencing prior to July 1, 1985; and
(2) one thousand dollars in any year if the state scholar initially isawarded a state scholarship for any program period, term or semester commencingafter July 1, 1985.
(b) When state scholarships are awarded to a state scholar forany program period or for one or more terms that are not semesters, the board ofregents shall determine the equivalent of the fall and springsemesters.
