Article 36.--PARENT EDUCATION

      72-3606.   Grants to school districts for development and operation ofprograms; funding priorities; amount, limitation, proration.(a) (1) In the 1990-91 school year, to theextent that appropriations are available therefor, and on the basis ofestablished priorities,the state board shall select for the award ofgrants of state moneys those school districts, not to exceed 100 school districts,which the state board determines to be most capable of developing andoperating successful parent educationprograms.

      (2)   In the 1991-92 school year, to theextent that appropriations are available therefor, and on the basis ofestablished priorities,the state board shall select for the award ofgrants of state moneys those school districts, not to exceed 200 school districts,which the state board determines to be most capable of developing andoperating successful parent educationprograms.

      (3)   In the 1992-93 school year and in each school year thereafter, to theextent that appropriations are available therefor,each school district which has developed and is operating an approved parent educationprogram shall be eligible to receive a grant of state moneys.

      (b)   The amount ofa grant to a school district shall be determined by the state board inaccordance with established priorities,but in no event shallsuch amount exceed the amount of actual expenses incurred by the schooldistrict in the development and operation of a program. If the amount of appropriations for parent education programs isinsufficient to pay in full the amount each school district is determinedto be eligible to receive, the state board shall prorate the amountappropriated among all school districtsin proportion tothe amount each such school district is determined to be eligible to receive.
