68-404a. Construction and maintenance of certain highways traversingfederal property.The secretary of transportation is hereby authorized and empowered toexpend funds from the highway fund for the purpose of maintaining, by andwith the consent of the appropriate agencies of the federal government,roads and highways marked by it as state or federal routes, which roads andhighways traverse any federal reservation or other federal property. Thesecretary is further authorized to expend highway funds to construct ahighway not exceeding three (3) miles in length through a militaryreservation, when such construction is required to complete a link in theinterstate highway system, and after the appropriate agencies of thefederal government has granted a right-of-way or easement to the secretaryacross such military reservation and said highway shall be considered as apart of the state highway system for all purposes, except that of computingthe total mileage upon the state highway system. No other such roads andhighways shall be considered as a part of the state highway system, or beconsidered in computing the total mileage upon the state highway system.
