Article 11.--GENERAL PROVISIONS

      68-1116.   Day labor system; county engineer's duties; limitation.Nothing in this act shall prohibit the board from buying materials andcontracting all or any part of the labor or purchasing or rentingequipment to do the work by day labor under the direction of the countyengineer. Prior to beginning the construction orrepair of any bridge or culvert work by day labor the approved plans andspecifications and the county engineer's estimates of the cost must befiled in the county clerk's office, and the said county engineer shallkeep an accurate itemized account of all expenditures for labor andmaterials and work performed and file a signed statement of the same inthe office of the county clerk at the end of each month and finalstatement when the work is completed. The provisions ofthis section shall not apply to any work the estimated cost of whichexceeds fifty thousand dollars ($50,000).
