Article 63.--SOCIAL WORKERS

      65-6303.   Prohibited acts; penalty.(a) No person shall engage in the practice of social work for compensationor hold forth as performing the services of a social worker unless suchperson is licensed in accordance with the provisions of this act, nor mayany person participate in the delivery of social work service unless underthe supervision of a person who is licensed under this act. Temporarylicenses to practice may be issued by the board inaccordance with K.S.A. 65-6309 and amendments thereto.

      (b)   Nothing in this act shall be construed to prevent qualifiedpersons from doing work within the standards and ethics of theirrespective professions and callings provided they do not hold themselvesout to the public by any title or description of services as beingengaged in the practice of social work.

      (c)   Nothing in this act shall be construed to permit the practice ofpsychotherapy by anyone who does not have a baccalaureate degree insocial work or a related field except that those practicing psychotherapywithout a baccalaureate degree in social work or a related field prior toJuly 1, 1974, shall not be prohibited from so practicing after theeffective date of this act.

      (d)   Any violation of this section shall constitute a class Bmisdemeanor.
