65-171h. Minimum standards for sanitary water and sewage systems.The secretary of health and environment in pursuance of his generalpower of supervision over the interests of the health and life of thecitizens of this state, and the sanitary conditions under which they liveand in order to protect the quality of the waters of the state forbeneficial uses is hereby authorized and empowered to develop, assemble,compile, approve and publish minimum standards of design, construction, andmaintenance of sanitary water and sewage systems, and shall publish andmake available such approved minimum standards to municipalities,communities and citizens of this state, and shall from time to time makerecommendations to the appropriate committees of the legislature, for anylegislation that may be required to adequately protect air in enclosedspaces, and water supply from contamination.
