65-170. Director of the division of environment; duties incarrying out the provisions of 65-161 to 65-170.For the purpose of carrying out the provisions of this act it shall bethe duty of the director of the division of environment to investigateand report upon all matters relating to water supply and sewerage andthe pollution of the waters of the state that may come before thesecretary of health and environment for investigation or action, and tomake such recommendations in relation thereto as the director may deemwise and proper, and to make such special investigations in relation tomethods of sewage disposal and to public water supply and thepurification of water as may be necessary in order to make properrecommendations in regard thereto, or as may be required by thesecretary of health and environment.
Suits under the provisions of this act shall be brought in the nameof the state of Kansas by the attorney general of the state in any courtof competent jurisdiction, and the penalties and fines recoverable underthe provisions of this act shall be paid to the state treasurer asprovided in K.S.A. 20-2801 and amendments thereto.
