59-2144. Foreign adoption; filing documents with the clerk of thedistrict court; birthcertificate.(a) When a Kansas resident adopts a child in aforeign country in accordancewiththe laws of the foreign country pertaining to relinquishment, termination ofparental rights and consent to the adoption, the decree of adoptionor a similar document or documents which evidences finalization of theadoption in the foreign country, and evidence of lawful admission into theUnited States, whenfiled with and entered in the records of the clerk of the district court of anycounty in this state, has the same force and effect as if the decree ofadoption, or a similar document or documents which evidences finalization oftheadoption in the foreign country,was granted in accordance with the provisions of the Kansas adoptionand relinquishment act.
(b) When such decree or document is filedandentered, the adoptive parent or parents may request abirth certificate pursuant to K.S.A. 65-2423, and amendments thereto.
(c) This section shall be part of and supplemental to the Kansas adoptionand relinquishment act.
