48-252. Transportation of troops and equipment.All railroad companies operating in the state of Kansas shall, whenfurnishing transportation for troops of any sized command traveling underorders of the military department of the state of Kansas, transport on thesame train for each full ticket of transportation taken 150 pounds ofpersonal baggage, equipment, subsistence stores or impedimenta thereuntobelonging, excluding that part of the equipment carried by an equippedsoldier, free from all charge: And provided further, That, afterdeducting from the gross weight of personal baggage, equipment, stores andimpedimenta the full amount of 150 pounds for each full ticket taken, theremainder of such personal baggage, equipment, stores and impedimenta shallbe transported at freight rates: And provided further, That themilitary department of the state of Kansas shall have full authority as tothe manner of preparing the various articles for shipment, theirdisposition in the cars furnished, and the right to send personal guardswith such cars.
