47-610. State quarantine, sanitary and other regulations; veterinarian;compensation.The state livestock commissioneris hereby directed to protect the health of domestic animals of thestate from all contagious or infectious diseases and for this purpose ishereby authorized and empowered to establish, maintain andenforce such quarantine, sanitary and other regulations asnecessary. If the livestock commissionerrequires the assistance of technical knowledge, experience orskill to carry out theduties of the livestock commissioner, the livestock commissioner maycommand the services of any competentveterinarian or may call upon the dean of the college of veterinary medicine, Kansasstate university at Manhattan, Kansas,for that purpose. In case the dean of the college ofveterinary medicine, Kansas state university is called, the dean shallreceive actual and necessary expenses in the performance of suchduties as full compensation for such services. Ifany other veterinarian is employed,such veterinarian shall receive such actual andnecessary expenses and reasonable compensation for such services.
